Black & Tans are easy to make, just follow this three steps:

  1. Select the two layers. The dark layer is usually a stout or porter. The pale layer is usually a pale ale, but also a pale lager (Half & Half), or even other beverages can be used.
  2. Pour the bottom layer (tan). Pour a good head.
  3. Use an upside down spoon, a Black & Tan Spoon, or the Lagerhead Turtle from Brütül® and gradually (slowly) pour the top layer (black).
